I'd actually tried that but I'd missed the fact that my mvn clean wasn't completing properly. It was barfing about not being able to delete a couple of jars. The problem turned out to be the fact that I had Eclipse open but was running maven in a terminal window (well actually a dos box - this is on windoze). Eclipse apparently had its talons in a couple of jars and wouldn't let go. I shut Eclipse and mvn clean completed successfully. I'm now trying to work with maven in eclipse - I've got it going, but it would be good to figure out how to change the maven options that pop up when you right-click on pom.xml - been through project properties and eclipse settings but can't find where to customise those. I've got a few maven run commands up on the toolbar so am making do with those for now. Finally, I'd thought to add an item to the appfuse.org/FAQ page about customising these files - would that be appropriate or is it too obvious?
