That looks pretty good, but I don't think we will be able to start using maven right now.
Would it be possible to port merlin:simulate to ant?
Sure.
An ant task equivalent would be really good and easy to put in place.
Where can I find the source for that?
In the merlin/kernel/plugin suproject you will find two files of relevance. The first is the jelly script (plugin.jelly) which basically would need to be translated to an equivalent ant script. The second file is the MerlinBean which is simply an embedded merlin kernel which executes a block and terminates.

Wildcarding would be cool.
But, I was mainly concerned with non-jared class files. For example, for a development environment, where you want a fast debug cycle and you don't want to jar everytime.
You can use:
maven merlin:simulate

This is all under the composition package - only reasons its not done is that there are so many other items higher on the agenda. If you want hints on where to go digging and updating - yell out and I'll post pointers. Getting wildcard expression in would be great - but there is also the question about what should be done when the content of the directory changes during runtime. All the options for classpath in merlin seemed to be tied to jar files. Can you not declare a directory to include?
Cheers, Steve.
