Appreciating that JDK 1.5 isn't even available yet in early access, it seems to provide some very interesting support that Avalon could take advantage of - specifically the JCP 166 addition of threading utilities (no more defining your own worker threads and management facility).
Is anyone looking at the potential impact or benefits of JDK 1.5 and Avalon/merlin?

the 1.5 attributes will probably be used to refactor the meta model (guess, not roadmap). Generics will be potentially real sweet as well to apply to the container stuff. But threading will not matter much; util.concurrent is available already :D
that said, I think we'll want jdk 1.3 compatibility for quite some time to come. So there's a lot of candy I think we won't be touching for a long time.
