I'd be *really* interested to understand more about any inbuilt JMX
capability.

According to Stephen, the Merlin internals are already JMX enabled, and for
some time.
I haven't been using that so I don't know the details. Steve will be back
in a
few hours, he plays "chauffeur" for his son. :o)
