this is a major plus. Do you know yet whether the Endnote support is
pretty well flawless? I remember that there were some problems with
Endnote conversion a ocuple of years ago, when bibutils was first
being developed.

One potential issue is whether the RefBase data model can fully handle Endnote or RIS. I'm not sure.

Again, this is quite cool. I look forward to trying it out.
My colleagues all use MS Word. Do you know whether there are SRU/CQL
interface mechanisms for word?

If there isn't, they're trivial to do. SRU is just a query over HTTP. I do remember people were doing stuff with SRW (the SOAP version) and the MS Research Pane (which is probably where to hook into).

They were all talking about something cvalled "refworks", which I gather is a commercial library-based db which adds reatures to the word menus. If such a thing exists for one
system, perhaps it wouldn't be impossible to tweak it for another
reference manager.

What I was talking about earlier with adding a script to Word is basically the same model. But in that case I'd advocate using my CSL style language. RefWorks shouldn't be hard to do as free software.
