Hi,

Here are my thoughts. Correct me if I am mistaken.

Pros:
        - OVS should give more control over network than usual Linux bridge.
CS has OVS plugin for that. Can't use it, because of (see below).
        - XenServer uses OVS by default (though trough XAPI).
Cons:
       - It seems OpenVSwitch plugin is broken starting from 4.4.0. At CS
4.4.1 you can see it at plugin list, but is not able to active it. At 4.3.1 it
was OK.
       - There is no openvswitch package for CentOS * Linuxes. You have to
compile by your own. There is a lot of different versions and I am not sure
wich one you should use. The official documents say this:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/KVM+with+OpenVSwitch and
there are reports that other versions are also working:
http://giraffeforestg.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-173.html

Vadim.

Subject: Re: Cloudstack and xenserver 6.2 Pros and cons: openvswitch vs bridge

General rule of thumb is to leave at the default of Open vSwitch if not using
Security Groups, and to switch to Linux Bridge if you are using Security Groups
(Basic or Advanced)

Which method is more sutable if we don not use advance zone with security

Thanks
