Hello Nitin,

This is why I have asked :

Failed to migration: com.cloud.exception.StorageUnavailableException:
Resource [StoragePool:2] is unreachable: Migrate volume failed: No remote
endpoint to send command, check if host or ssvm is down?

Also tested without attached DATA volume and I get same issue.

Regards,
Cristian

Subject: Re: VM migration - Local Storage (VMware)

Hi Cristian,

If you want to do a cold migration. (VM should be in stopped state) 1. Stop
the VM(In case it's running).
2. Start the VM.
3. Before starting, it will give you a list of hosts.
4. Choose a different host of the same cluster.
5. It would deploy the VM in the chosen host.

If you want to do a live migration. (VM should be in running state) (I
assume you are looking for this) 1. In UI, there is a button like a plus(+)
sign.
2. Post selection of that button, It would give you a list of suitable hosts
to migrate.
3. Select a different host of the same cluster, where you want to migrate.
4. Voila.. The VM would be migrated to that host without any downtime.

Note: The target host must have enough capacity available to deploy the VM,
else it would fail.

Sateesh, Correct me If I am wrong.

Thanks,
Nitin

Hello,

Is there a way to migrate a VM from a host to other host under the
same cluster? I have the following configuration, Cloudstack 4.5.2
configured with basic network, local storage and VMware.

Thank you !

Cristian
