GitHub user ehfortin closed a discussion: XCP vs cloud-init with Cloudstack
4.20 and 4.20.1

Hello,

For the last few days, I've tried to use user-data to automate some stuff
through cloud-init. This work very well with KVM cluster but I've not been able
to get the same result with XCP 8.2 or 8.2.1 (not tried 8.3 yet which is now
just supported with CS 4.20.1). That said, with the same .vhd file used as a
template in Xen Orchestra, putting the same exact content as user-data work
perfectly.

I saw that there was a bug that was apparently fixed lately
([https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/10912] and I'm not sure to
understand if this is supposed to be fixed in CS 4.20.1 or if it's coming for
4.20.2. If it's not yet in 4.20.1, what is the process to get it in there?

If it's already there, then it's not working with my current template. I've
done it two way. First way by download a cloud image from ubuntu which is
already prepared for cloud-init and I also tried to create an image from
scratch and I have the same result which are documented in the issue I
mentioned above. There is no cloud.log created so... it means nothing is
happening.

Any idea/suggestion would be welcome. Thank you.
