You have it right; the file's just not there. I've seen this discussed before: http://mail-index.netbsd.org/pkgsrc-users/2006/03/20/0004.html That article is part of a larger discussion; there is a way to automatically have the file placed in rc.d: http://mail-index.netbsd.org/pkgsrc-users/2006/03/20/0014.html I think automatically copying the files is the more expected actions, especially for anyone coming from FreeBSD ports.
