Perhaps the simplest approach is to use the 
-Dorg.apache.cxf.Logger=org.apache.cxf.common.logging.Log4jLogger
when you start the application.  The javadoc link below explains how to use the 
org.apache.cxf.common.logging.Log4jLogger class in place of the default logger.
