:-) yes, you are probably right. But the actual exception is swallowed by
cxf. I've seen that happen multiple times. an exception happens in the
entity manager creation and the exception is hidden by cxf. Very annoying
and I would love to know how to prevent that from happening.

In this case, it is not clear because the entity manager starts up smoothly
when cxf is not involved. Since it doesn't happen on development and nothing
is shown in debug logs that suggests (to me) what's wrong, it's hard to
debug.
