Hi :)

I guess the detailed answer is to ask which operating system you are using;
Windows, Linux (such as Ubuntu, Edubuntu, Mint, Salix ...), BSD or Mac?

For Windows probably the best program is WinRar
http://www.win-rar.com/download.html
WinRar is available for Windows, Linux, BSD and Mac
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
although most OSes (except Windows) probably have something built-in already.

Most of the linux distros tend to have an archive reader built-in that can read
zip format but knowing which distro would help us find the name of the archive
manager/reader.

Please see Lyudmil's answer at the bottom of this thread.
Regards from
Tom :)

Hi,

File format descriptor (first 2 bytes) of *.docx files is PK, i.e. zip format.
Use some un-zipper (7-zip, WinRAR, ...) to extract the document tree structure.
The document contents itself is in "\word\document.xml",
and the comments are in "\docProps\core.xml".
(Use Notepad or similar, search "description".
XML-Notepad couldn't help, for me at least.)

Regards,

Lyudmil
