The 6u21 is the best version.  After that Oracle started making java 
increasingly incompatible.  The _22 is still quite good, about as good as the 
_20.  I think _23 works but _24 starts being a bit of trouble.  I don't know if 
there has been a serious study on this but a few people have tested a few 
versions of java on a few different OSes but it would take a lot of hunting 
through the archives to gather the data.

You might want to comment regarding the startup failure on 39659. IMO LO
should not fail the startup regardless of java version (or no java at all).
