Thanks. I have downloaded both the latest version of Libre Office and the language pack. I think that the set up for Macs must be different as those options aren't in Tools. A search in Help showed them in LibreOffice/Preferences/Languages etc. I seem now to have succeeded in changing language and date settings for all documents.
