In cinnamon desktop or all of linux, there's some bug in linux or LibreOffice that the window size becomes zero pixels wide and zero pixels tall if the system or LibreOffice gets confused about what the non maximized window size should be.
press Alt-spacebar to see a menu where this zero size window is being placed, then either choose "resize" or position the cursor on the narrow vertical line the height of the header/menu and resize it.
