Hi Arne,
quite simply SoGE has been using Univa's 8.0.0 code we have made
available publicly. After that there was no relationship. So while there
were similar release numbers for some time (until we have released Univa
Grid Engine 8.2.0) the contents are different.
The various Univa Grid Engine releases and their contents can be
reviewed here http://www.univa.com/resources/releases.php
I'm sure Dave has something in place where you can review the contents
of SoGE releases.
Lastly, cgroups support and various enhancements to core and memory
binding (including using cgroups in this context as well) have been a
part of Univa Grid Engine for quite some time.
Cheers,
Fritz

Hello,
we need to upgrade our old 6.2u5 installation in order to resolve
several limitations. We're most interested in cgroups support to limit
physical memory (instead of virtual) and core binding to support
multi-threaded applications.
Are these things supported in "Sun of Grid Engine"? What's the
relation feature-wise with Univa?
Lastly, is the typical upgrade path (backup->upgrade->restore) still
valid for 6.2u5 to SoGE 8.1.8?
Regards,
Arne
