[users@httpd] no apache given during mod_jk configure for tomcat connector 1.2.15

Install apache 2.0.58, tomcat 5.0.28 with no problems, and attempting to run configure command to build mod_jk.  I get error message "no apache given" in which configure completes, and make completes.   When I add loadmodule statement for mod_jk to httpd.conf, and start apache I get Segmentation fault and apache doesn't start.  When I remove loadmodule for mod_jk, apache starts fine.    Need help! Why am I getting "no apache given"

 

 

The configure command I am executing is

 

CC=gcc ./configure --with-java-home=/usr/java14 --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs

 

 

The error message is list below:

need to check for Perl first, apxs depends on it...

configure: creating ./config.status

config.status: creating Makefile
