There is a module mod_proxy_html which is supposed to do the work. But, I see that 2.0.50 does not apply the rules :(. No message in the error logs too. (2.0.50 has some bug I feel, mod_rewrite with the same rules works smooth with 2.2.3 - I can see everything in RewriteLogs too). I will work on this again this weekend and try to set it up.
