The software that Apache is acting as a front end for recommends 2.0.63 but that's probably just what was current at the time they released it.
2.2.x would probably work fine as well so I will try that. Installing it separately might fix the problem. Otherwise you could build apr and apr-util first, and then build httpd using those rather than its bundled copies.
