Hello All,
I just sent a copy of Chirp to a friend whose greatest strengths are not with the computer.
He is a Ham, KF0LPQ.
He has an Icom 7300.
He wants to program in some memories for 6 and 10 meter repeaters, the 6 meter ones are likely only going for local use, so that is not a big deal in this request. I don't have this model of radio, so I'm hoping someone here with this model has some memories in a file that you could send my way, and I can help him import it into Chirp and I'll help him upload it to his radio.
Thanks.

Hi Glenn,

Lots of meat in this thread.

Using Chirp with the IC-7300 is what is being usefully called a LIVE connection.

I've experienced this already with some Kenwood 2 m / 70 cm FM mobiles/HTs. Works fine.

There is something that looks like a Download (filling the Chirp table.)

There is nothing like one might expect with an Upload.

With a LIVE connection, as soon as one makes data (text) changes in the table it's in the radio.

So, there is no .img Upload per se.

I've had great difficulty with programming my IC-7300 for repeaters. Even some other frequencies have proved difficult.

This _may_ be as I'm using a single USB-A / USB-B cable.

I've just been loaned an RTL cable that is apparently like an ICOM OPC-478 or similar. That may work better. No idea, yet.

I don't think you're going to "talk him", or anyone, even a sighted op through this. You'll likely need to see things, see where your mentor is in the process. Perhaps do-able with a screen share.

What does work with Chirp in general, and I'm banging away on now with the IC-7300, is downloading a mess of data from several repositories. I've programmed other radios using the interface/access to/with RepeaterBook. That is cool.

In this case it accesses the site and will fill a Chirp tab with my choice of 50 MHz repeaters, however I'm having difficulty moving or copy/pasting data from that table (in the neighbouring tab) into the radio one.

If I find any success I'll mention it.

I think the well trod path to finding someone with a local file is pretty passé. Why I'm checking with RepeaterBook.
