Those pastes expire after 24 hours -- at most.  Anyone who
doesn't read the thread within that time won't be able to
see the context.  I consider that a strong reason to avoid
it for mailing list posts.

I think trimming what's sent is preferable.  To me, one of
the great values of a mailing list is the ability for others
to read and learn from it later.  If we treat it as a
transient support tool, we're losing that value.

It's much more fulfilling to contribute to the list when
it's got the possibility to benefit others well after the
initial post.  If all we're doing is providing free,
one-time support, it is harder to justify the time (IMHO).

I'm happy if I can help others as I've learned a lot from
folks who know more than I ever will. I would just like the
effort spent here to be of value beyond the immediate
exchange.
