I have one of those two-bay USB - SATA hard drive gadgets, it has a
clone drive function that works all by itself.  I've used it a few
times for relatively pain-free drive cloning.

But the last time I used it on a Mac drive, the Mac flatly refused to
let me expand the partitions to use the whole drive (the new one was
bigger).  It wouldn't even let me create a second partition in the
empty space.
