Bonjour,
I have some troubles while installing vlc on fedora 42:
Thefile/usr/lib64/vlc/plugins/codec/libfaad_plugin.soconflictswithattemptstoinstallvlc-plugins-freeworld-3.0.21-4.fc42.x86_64andvlc-plugins-base-1:3.0.21-24.fc42.x86_64.
there is no file libfaad_plugin.so :
ls -l /usr/lib64/vlc/plugins/codec/
total 0
Mystery!
Who can help?
Thank you
I had an issue recently in F42 where sudo dnf upgrade wanted to upgrade
vlc-plugins-base and produced a file conflict with
vlc-plugins-freeworld, so I used dnf to remove vlc-plugins-freeworld,
which enabled the update to proceed. From past experience this sort of
conflict is nothing unusual with the freeworld packages and there is no
cross dependencies between the same packages, possibly because, in this
case, the freeworld packages are in the rpmfusion repository and the
base package is in the fedora repository? I haven't investigated that
situation as I just removed the freeworld package.
regards,
Steve
