If the USB stick was still factory formatted, it's probably already in
a compatible state (particularly if it's not a mega huge sized stick). 
Though EX-FAT is a common default, these days.

I don't use Windows (for over 20 years), so I'm unfamiliar with it. 
But you used to have some hardware tools that told you properties of
connected drives.  It might even be possible to just right-click on the
drive in the file explorer, now.  You could look to see if you can find
out how it's currently set up.  And you should have formatting options,
if you choose to format the stick, that gives you FAT32 as one of the
choices.

I'm loathe to say just google it, as there's so many written by idiots
guides (artificial or human), but this page is from one of the
companies that make storage devices, so a bit more trustworthy, and not
one of those watch a ten minute video of someone gabbing on about a two
minute procedure:
