Depends on your threat model. If you want someone who has access to
your account not to be able to tell that you have a cookie from a
particular site, you still need to purge them somehow.
If you have regular privacy needs, the "Total Cookie Protection"
feature should cover the threats that people had been using cookie

I maintain a list of what I think are the biggest impact privacy
tools and settings for the time investment and I don't have cookie
clearing on there any more.
Close but no cigar, I want to remove cookies when a tab is closed, not
just isolate them for a site.

I don't know if it is of any benefit, but I have always had Firefox
configured to delete cookies and site data on close.
