The discussion three years ago was about a few hundred simultaneous calls. Now is about a few thousand simultaneous calls. MediaProxy version 2 is different from the version 1, so the article is in my opinion, outdated. Anyway, OpenSIPS is a signaling proxy, the idea is not to bridge all the calls in the media relay server, but to allow peer to peer audio/video in most cases, which increases the scalability to tens of thousands of calls.
