but the Debian way is to distribute files to their "correct"

there is no correct locations, if it changes later ?

eg all config into /etc, binaries into /usr/bin and so on.

but roundcube does not use /etc unix path

I would not trust those upgrade scripts to do the right thing with an
install of a Debian derived distro.

so debian maintainers brokke how to install roundcube updates :/

The Debian package maintainer
should have got the install & upgrade process working, but if they
have not then you will have to fix it the Debian way.

debian maintainers should stop maintain to much, period

sorry i use gentoo for a reason

latest roundcube is btw 1.6.x so debian users is still behind stable
