I've just tried it on Maven 1.1 and it fails because of errors in its POM. More specifically you must remove the <id> element in the <contributor> section. I've tried to report this big on java.net but couldn't find a way to enter a bug... I've probably missed something stupid. Could you please enter it yourself?
