If there's going to be a version based on jmagick, I think it can never be the default implementation, because JMagick uses the LGPL [*]. Of course it can be a seperate installable application.

[*] LGPL isn't necessary a bad license, but including LGPL-libraries in MMBase will result in an MMBase not useable for every user, because the LGPL results in some restrictions what you can do with applications including LGPL-libraries.
