as the official announcement has already been made ;) ...

Yes, Oracle will open-source ADF Faces under the name of Apache
Cherokee - if it gets through the incubator, which will of course need
some time, and which will depend on community building.

So the Cherokee team will rely upon all of you to be successful! The
more interest in the project, the more patches, bug reports,
development for it, the better!

The timeframe will be - website and sourcedrop up and running by the
beginning of the next year. We hope to get the project out of the
incubator before JavaOne next year, but don't take this as granted in
any way.

Oracle will open source 104 components of the ADF faces component set
- there are still some more not being open sourced, but they might
follow if the first donation is as successful as we suspect. In fact,
I doubt you'll miss any functionality in JSF world with the combined
component sets of Cherokee, Tobago and Tomahawk.
