A very simple example can be found here: https://github.com/ymaraner/EJBWebServiceInEar <https://github.com/ymaraner/EJBWebServiceInEar> It has a single HelloWorld webservice that is packaged inside of an EAR file. It has the same issue when I deploy it to TomEE (by placing it in the apps folder)
I am new to Git and Maven, so hopefully everything you need is there.
