You could stop the Quickstarter by right clicking on the blue globe with seagulls in the ystem tray and choosing "Exit" or "quit" from the popup. Alternately, go into TaskManager (Ctrl Shift Esc) and kill any soffice processes shown on Task Manager's Processes tab (Note: soffice).
