All the old files should convert automatically when opened. To open .doc files, 
you need to set your computer's File Associations to tell it to use OpenOffice 
to open these files.  Right click on a .doc file, and from the popup choose 
OpenOffice (or swriter.exe); then select the "always open with this 
application" link on that window.  If your clients are using MS Windows, you 
should send the files as .PDF (/File /Export as PDF) if they don't need to edit 
them, or as .doc if they do.  MS Office can open .odt files, but most MS Office 
users are not aware of that and will give you hassle because they have to think 
and perhaps change a computer setting.
