Hi everyone,

I should only want to remember here that LibreOffice (in addition to what OpenOffice do):

a1) reads and writes odt, ods, odp, ... (also known as Open Document Format)

a2) reads and writes (!) docx, xlsx, pptx, ... (also known as OOXML or Office Open XML)

a3) reads and write old legacy (and closed) doc, xls, ppt, ... (also known as Microsoft legacy file format)

b) execute mass file conversion from the menu File --> Wizards --> Document converter... that you can use in many cases.

I suggest you to use version:

a) 7.1.1.2 already quite solid, rich and powerful Windows, MacOS, Linux builds (both 32 and 64 native builds)

b) or 7.0.5.2 rock solid (released within a few days), less rich and less powerful Windows, MacOS, Linux builds (both 32 and 64 native builds)

Do you have any doubt yet? ;-)

Have all a nice evening,

Carlo

sorry one more quick question please?
with using the newest version of Apache open office 4.1.9 I got rid of the
recovery file problem, but now how do I convert all my files that have been
saved as the old 4.0.1 version to 4.1.9 and for my clients to able to open
them if I send them as the extension .odt ? Also have tons of files now in
.doc and can't open those as I don't have Microsoft word.

All the old files should convert automatically when opened. To open .doc files, you need
to set your computer's File Associations to tell it to use OpenOffice to open these
files. Right click on a .doc file, and from the popup choose OpenOffice (or
swriter.exe); then select the "always open with this application" link on that
window. If your clients are using MS Windows, you should send the files as .PDF (/File
/Export as PDF) if they don't need to edit them, or as .doc if they do. MS Office can
open .odt files, but most MS Office users are not aware of that and will give you hassle
because they have to think and perhaps change a computer setting.

why is this coming to me?
I want to know why every time I open Open office 4.1.9 it states
recovery
file????

Gina, RMT, Yoga Instructor
You are enrolled to a public mailing list and receive all messages; if
you
wish to unsubscribe there are instructions at the bottom of each email
which you should follow,

If the recovery message is always about one specific file, press Cancel
and the message will not occur.

If the recovery message is always about the last file you edited, Cancel
will also work, but in that case you need to adjust your method of
working
by specifically closing OpenOffice and then waiting a few seconds (five
should be sufficient) for the internal housekeeping to be written to
disk
before you power off your computer or close your laptop's lid.

In the first case above, the Recover message may arise from over-hsaty
close down or perhaps from a program or compyuer crash.

Hi Conchita,

if you want to use a modern and powerful open source with a native
Windows
64 bit build, you can download LibreOffice instead:
