I meant .sxw, not .swf. sorry about that. Proof that the brain's cells do begin
to die off as one nears 50, I suppose :) lou-

Perfect Office 11 in OOI have one question, why are you saving as flash files?

Hi, I wanted to respond to issues re WP11, since I too asked similar questions
when beginning to tx [transfer] docs from wp11 to oo1.1.4.
What I've found works best for me is simple cut/ paste of WP text to OO [with
both programs open]. Save as a .swf {** CORRECTION ** .SXW **} documents in OO
[check the default box so it will automate the extension].
This doesn't in any affect the original WP document, and gives you the ability
to edit and manipulate text in the newly created .swf {** CORRECTION ** .SXW
**}doc.
As for the question re WP8 & WP11, if I understand you correctly, it sounds as
tho wp11 has overridden wp8 in your computer? This should pose no problem for
you since docs created in 8 can be TX'd to and read in
11, as well as editted [by renaming]. If for some reason, you need to have both
programs running on one computer, which I truly don't understand, then you need
to name the programs diferently to prevent an override of version 11 over
version 8.
If I misunderstood, my apologies.
Hope this helps. louann-

RE: I am using WordPerfect 8 and Wordperfect 12. The documents generated by
both these versions of WP are read without any problem by OOo version 1.1.4 and
1.9.65 I remember I had to install an aditional feature
when I was using 1.2.x, but since I ame on version 1.1.4 I installed nothing at
all, even so for
version 1.9.65. If I inspect open file types WordPerfect is present.
Could it be that by installing the new versions this possibility was installed
based om my previous settings? Can someone who did not install this WP package
verify this?
This is only for reading WP files of coarse, I dont think that OOo is able to
write WP formats?
Anyway, WP11 can read .doc files verry well, so the latter should not be a
problem?
Kind regards,
Freddy

I'm having to send back and forth with someone who uses Word Perfect 11.
Is there any way to open a Word Perfect file in Open Office?
Is there any way to save as a Word Perfect or is there another file type I can
save as so that it can be opened in Word Perfect?
In this case I'd use the .rtf.Rich text Format. it is understandable by both.
There is also a Wp filter for loading WP files into OOo, But I do not think it
will export in WP as yet.
I have also discovered, to my joy and delight, that word can open .wed files.
I have also discovered that I have better luck cutting and pasting from kword
into OO than saving in a format that OO is supposed to
be able to read.
