I looked at everything under TOOLS, and tried a few -- still no change. VIEW, Value Highlighting was not/is not checked. Thanks to all who have spent time and effort on this problem. I don't like to work with something that appears to be broken, and I dont like the fact that the function is different on different machines having similar setups. But now I know the behavior pattern here, I'm going to work with that and move on. I know defeat when it stomps me --- I surrender. Ron
