Anna

To help you best, we need to know what operating
system you are using (Mac, PC with Win XP, PC
with other Windows, PC with Linux, what?). Which
version of OOo -- 1.1.4, 1.9.77, etc --are you
trying to install?

I would encourage you not to give up so easily. The
people on this list have been wonderfully helpful to me.

Subject: [users] Help!

I was trying to install OpenOfice. When I came to page 2 of the
instructions, I did not know what was meant by "using a compression
utility." I also did not know what was meant by "extracting all the files
into a separate directory on my hard drive." I tried clicking a few things.
I may have been able to extract all of the files.
I do not know what I clicked or did. I got stuck. I didn't know how to
proceed with the installation. I never did see anything labelled
"setup.exe."
At one point, a message popped up very briefly, indicating something
about programs now being installed and to not uninstall them. I did not know
if my computer was telling me that or if that message was from OpenOffice. I
was afraid to uninstall anything.
After going to Start, then Programs, I did not find anything named
OpenOffice listed in my list of programs.
I am stuck in the installation process. By now, I just want to get it
off of my computer without any damage.
     Please tell me how.
