Md5 is a one way hash value computated for a file. The method used to
construct the hash value is deemed to be one way since it is extremely
difficult to create a file that has exactly the same hashed value.

{To those on the list - please don't take this as a start of an email
discussion about the merits of individual hash functions.}

The purpose behind these are to ensure that the file that has been
downloaded has not been corrupted during the download. There are
further instructions on how to get the Md5 hashed vaue on the download
page of OOo.
