I used KDE System guard and selected all the processes and then killed them. Now, I saw Paul's response as well. I do not know what signal the "Kill" button uses in KDE System Guard. But I would think -9 or SIGKILL. If -3 for SIGQUIT or -15 for SIGTERM then I would expect OOo to prompt me about saving the file. It did not, it just disappeared, leaving the recovery info behind. The backup directory did not contain other recovery info for all the files I have worked with either. So I would expect the recovery info to be deleted upon proper termination.
