Hi Cor, let me see if I got this right: do you mean I should use "None" for Numbering in my Heading 2 Paragraph Style, then go to each and every one of my subheadings (which are formatted Heading 2) and which now will not be numbered anymore, and for each one of them do the following: Tools>Outline Numbering then select which number I want them to be numbered with, then click on the Numbering On/Off button in my toolbar to enable the little number in front of each of the subheadings? I hope you meant something else, because this doesn't sound like much of an automation to me.
If you use Tools|Outline numbering and set a numbering style for Heading 1 and Heading 2 (for example 1 and 1.1) and click OK, then every paragraph with heading 1 or 2 (existing or new) will be numbered accordingly. This as long as you do not apply direct numbering on the Numbering tab of a paragraph(s style), which mixes things up.
I see now that in 2.4 and 3.0 you can set numbering to heading paragraphs directly with the numbering button on the formatting tool bar. This has the same effect as using the dialog Tools|Outline numbering.
(This has changed compared to older versions). Does this make it clear enough?
