Can you activate the link and then go to > format > standard?
That seems to work for me.

Not sure I follow you. Do you mean click on it? If I do that then my email
program starts up in compose mode with the address in the 'send to' box. If
I right-click all I'm given is the normal selections I see everywhere else.
I guess its simply a question of how do you remove the hyperlink from the text?
