There a couple of methods: GUI and using a console. Here is the
console method (Konsole in KDE) I use.
In the /home/ros/tmp directory (/home/ros/ is my personal home
directory) where the tar ball has been downloaded:
tar -zxf OOo_1.1.4_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
This extracts it to the OOo_1.1.4_LinuxIntel_install subdirectory of the
tmp directory.
cd OOo_1.1.4_LInuxIntel_Intel
At this point, I strongly recomend you read this file:
SETUP_GUIDE.pdf. It will describe everything you need to do from this
point on. It even includes pictures.
