I tried out your <crash_ooo.odt> with OOo 3.0.0 [OOO300m9 Build 9358] / WinXP / LanguageTool 0.9.5. OOo didn't crash and my results are documented in <crash_ooo_annotated.odt> [209 KB] -> <http://cjoint.com/data/ltxyzLvUqG.htm> As far as I know, the grammar check function should work fine with OOo 3.0.1.
