KAMI, you might want to hook up with IDAutomation:
http://www.idautomation.com/openoffice/

The US Postal Service/USPS are phasing out the Postnet barcode and
converting to the Intelligent Mail ® barcode:

The ability to easily add a USPS barcode to a mailmerge/label in OOo
will be a tremendous boost to OOo. IDAutomation offer a commercial
package for $139 USD with OOo macros, but with a little work it should
be possible to offer a open extension to do the same. Note: I wouldn't
want to bypass IDAutomations hard work, but with some negotiations
perhaps they'd be willing to assist.

In the past I've simply used an open postnet barcode for US postal
codes. But with the new Intelligent Mail ® barcode I'm unsure what to
usel so I'll continue to use my older postnet barcode font.
