Richard, I pretty much agree with you and normally ignore that bashing which can sometimes, if other noses don't get out of joint, just ignore it. As you can see though some part of human nature still made some feel they must take an explanatory stance rather than simply agree that such posts are OT and non-productive, besides creating a reputation on the group that's not always positive. EVERYONE should just ignore such posts IMO: Completely and for all time. My own "explanatory" route is that anyone can have a bad day, and that might be all that happened is my first suspicion. Or perhaps the person is depressed and frustrated and needed to vent. That's OK by me but it shouldn't be perpetuated or responded to in most cases. Same goes for those who responded with their explanatory notes about WHY an os is bad or good. They may also be having not so great days too and let's hope they feel better and are done.
So in the future, how about if both of us and hopefully everyone else too, simply ignore such posts and hope the person felt better after venting, and let it go at that. This is a semi-moderated group and if necessary there are things can be done about those who decide to abuse the group or continually ignore any netiquette for long periods of time. I get just as tired of it as you do I'm sure, but I seldom respond to them and resist the temptation, moving on to see what the next post is instead.
