I have been using white text on dark background on my system and use Automatic colors in OOo, and the table borders appear black and there is no option to set their color to Automatic. In

http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=23655

towards the bottom of the page mt writes:

-------------
Correction:

It is NOT an HC issue, because OOo already does some magic so we don't display the black borders on black background.

With the given description, this is not an issue at all:
In Tools/Options/Appearence, you configure the color to be used for the help lines, when the table cells don't have a border.

This works.

Tools/Options/Appearence only has influence on some visual stuff, but NOT on defaults for document content.

Closing this one - UX will write an issue to allow users to set the color to AUTO, for other reasons.

Which are the "help lines"? I can't find them in the list.
Basically I do not think I understand what this guy is saying, except that he closed the issue. Can somebody make it clear? Has the issue been replaced with another one to set the color to Automatic for whatever reasons? But wasn't this the issue in the first place?

Thanks,

emf
