I'm not sure that you'd want to do that automatically. However if you use sftp (Nautilus (Places if you haven't figured out Places is the Nautilus file manager in Gnome)|Connect to Server|Service type: SSH|Server: IP address|Connect. Note: if using DYNDNS you can use the domain name instead, but I always prefer to check first by ssh'ing into the machine first to test... on dynamic IP's DYDNS may have the previously cached IP address instead of the actual IP address if there is a problem with the update to DYDNS via the router or DYDNS software updater. In OOo: Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org|General|uncheck 'Use OpenOffice.org dialogs'. In OOo: File|Open|right-click and ensure that 'Show Hidden files' is checked|scroll to home/<username>/.gvfs (on your local machine) & keep clicking until you get to the folder where your documents on the remote machine are stored (home/<username>/<documentfolder>|select the doc that you want to open. Typically, if you close OOo, and then reopen + use File|Open OOo will revert to the last location; so it should work if you use the domain name, but it will not with dynamic IP's by themselves as the IP will most likely have changed. Test & see which works best for you. Note: be aware that by sftp'ing into the remote machine you have the ability to change/modify/delete etc., files on that machine that may affect it's operation. Hence my comment "I'm not sure that you'd want to do that automatically".
