*My Problem:*

I use OOo Writer to make PDF files.

How can I adjust a photo to be so many pixels in a PDF file?

Under Tools, Options, OpenOffice.org Writer, General - I can select
"Centimeter, Inch, Pica, or Point"

There is NO pixel scale. This constantly bothers me. Why?

When I make a screen shot, some of the lines in the image are 1 pixel wide.

I use the .png format to keep the image sharp.
(.jpg format does not keep fine detail in an image.)

The image *does look absolutely perfect in OOo Writer* with the image
inserted "Original Size" and Zoom = 100%!

When I view the PDF, however, with either full screen mode, or with the PDF
set to 100%, the image does NOT look good.

Trying to adjust the PDF zoom for a sharp image is nearly impossible. I
don't think it's possible.

*My Work Around:*

Here is what I do to get sharp images into a PDF file:
I set the page in OOo Writer to be 12.80 in x 10.24 in.
That is ratio of my LCD screen, 1280 x 1024 pixels.
When I place an image into OOo Writer, I specify inches = pixels.
  (904 pixels x 347 pixels => 9.04 inches x 3.47 inches)
Then, the PDF in full screen mode shows the image on my screen perfectly.

Is there a better way?

I am open to any ideas.

I welcome your thoughts.

Thank you,
John Gilchrist
