Hello Clare,

Very strange. On my OOo 3.2 on iMac, I have a normal sized window
(12,5 x 9 cm), with boxes for Find and Replace, and several buttons
and checkboxes.
Your Find window seems corrupted. Did you try a restart of OOo (and
maybe Mac too)?

What about updating to 3.2, now available on www.openoffice.org?
(it seems there's a wrong link in the download page - better go to
other platforms and languages and make your choice there...)

For the quotes question... I don't know what to do when indeed the
option is OK under Tools > Options for Autocorrection > Typographical
quotes
Did you look also under Format > AutoCorrection about when to apply
the correction?
