Try all this commands: sudo aptitude safe-upgrade sudo aptitude purge ~'c' sudo aptitude autoclean This will remove all dependencies you no longer need (and upgrade your system at the same time), purge all configuration files from all the packages you have removed, and will erase all installation packages you no longer need. All this commands are safe, so do not worry about messing your system. I hope this helps. Also, it is recommended you stick to the Hardy Heron version, or to upgrade your system to Lucid Lynx to get an upgraded version of OpenOffice.org. It is your choice.
